Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) are hearing technologies that are designed to support hearing in various environments. ALDs are typically compatible with hearing aids and offer a great supplement to the hearing support they provide. Common ALDs include:
Assistive Listening Devices
Hearing Loops
One of the most common types of ALDs, hearing loops are specifically intended to make public spaces more accessible for people with hearing challenges. Hearing loop systems can be found in various public spaces like banks, airports, auditoriums, etc. Soundwaves coming from an audio source like a microphone or intercom create a current that establishes a magnetic field to which hearing aids can connect. By enabling the telecoil feature on one’s hearing aid, the device can then directly receive this sound and adjust it in ways that meet the wearer's needs.

ALDs for TV
Watching TV, an everyday activity, can be difficult with hearing loss. There are ALDs that are designed to support people watching TV with greater ease. This includes the neckloop system which uses telecoil technology to deliver sound from the TV to your hearing aids. A loop is worn around your neck which connects to your hearing aid through magnetic induction. This allows sound to directly feed into your hearing aids which can then be adjusted to your specific hearing prescription.
